GlideComp logo Privacy Policy & Terms

Last updated: 31 October 2026

The changes of 31 October 2026 (Privacy Policy sections 2 and 9, and Terms sections 2, 4 and 6) take effect on 14 November 2026.

Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

GlideComp is a free, non-commercial service for scoring and analysing hang gliding and paragliding competitions, run by Tushar Pokle. For anything about your data — seeing it, correcting it, deleting it, or making a complaint — email [email protected]. Please don’t use GitHub issues for this: they are public.

2. What We Collect

  • Your account. If you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile picture. We don’t access any other Google account data. If you sign in with an emailed code: your email address.
  • Sign-in sessions. Your IP address and browser type, kept with your session to keep you signed in and to protect against abuse.
  • Competition registrations. Your name, email address, class, glider, team, pilot ID numbers (such as CIVL, FAI, SAFA, USHPA, BHPA, DHV or FFVL), world ranking points and a driver contact. An organiser can enter these for you, even if you don’t have a GlideComp account.
  • Track logs (IGC files). Your flight’s GPS positions, altitudes and times, and the pilot and glider details your flight instrument writes into the file.
  • What organisers create. Competitions, tasks, waypoints, penalties, pilot status (such as absent or landed) and weather notes.
  • Your own library. Tracks, tasks and notes you save to your account.
  • API keys. The name you give each key you create, and a scrambled (hashed) copy of the key, so we can check it without storing the key itself.
  • Connected AI assistants. If you connect an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT: which assistant it is, the address it returns to, what you allowed it to do, and the access tokens it uses. You can disconnect it at any time in Settings.

3. What Is Public

Competition results are public so that anyone can check them. For every competition except private test competitions, anyone — including search engines — can see pilot names and competition details (including glider and pilot ID numbers), track logs, scores and flight analysis, and the competition’s activity log, which records who changed what.

Pilot email addresses and driver contacts are visible only to that competition’s organisers. When a track is submitted for you, we email you the organisers’ names and email addresses so you can contact them.

4. Why We Use Your Data

  • To provide the service you use: your account, your uploads, and the competitions you run or fly in.
  • To publish fair, checkable competition results — a legitimate interest shared by pilots and organisers.
  • To email you every time a track is submitted for you, so a wrong or false submission can’t go unnoticed.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

We don’t sell your data, show advertising, use analytics or tracking, or send marketing email. The only emails we send are sign-in codes and track submission notices.

5. Services We Use

  • Cloudflare — hosting, database, file storage and sending email. Subject to Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy
  • Google — sign-in, if you choose it. Subject to Google’s Privacy Policy
  • Mapbox — maps, terrain heights and place search. Mapbox’s map library sends anonymous usage data to Mapbox. Subject to Mapbox’s Privacy Policy
  • Open-Meteo — weather for a task. We send only the task’s location and date. Subject to Open-Meteo’s Terms
  • FAI / CIVL — we read the world rankings the FAI publishes. We send them nothing.

6. Where Your Data Is Stored

On Cloudflare’s global network, which may be outside your country, including in the United States. Cloudflare’s data processing terms include safeguards for international transfers.

7. Cookies & Browser Storage

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in — no advertising or analytics cookies. Your browser also keeps your preferences and cached data (localStorage and IndexedDB), which you can clear in your browser settings.

8. How Long We Keep Data

  • Your account and saved library: until you delete your account.
  • Sign-in sessions (with your IP address and browser type): a session ends after 60 days without use, and we delete it within a day of ending.
  • Sign-in codes: they expire after 10 minutes, and we delete them within a day.
  • IP addresses used to limit abuse (for example, of sign-in attempts and submissions made without an account): deleted within two days.
  • Competition data (registrations, tracks, scores and the activity log): kept as the published record of the competition, unless its organiser deletes the competition or we remove it on request (see section 9).

9. Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account from your dashboard. This removes your account, profile, sessions and preferences, your saved tracks, tasks and notes, your API keys and any connected AI assistants, and revokes GlideComp’s access to your Google account.

Competition records stay, but are no longer linked to your account: your registrations, the tracks you flew in competitions, your scores and activity log entries. They are part of each competition’s published results, and removing them would change other pilots’ scores. If you want them removed or your name hidden, email us — we will work with the organiser and remove them unless there is a strong reason to keep them.

10. Your Rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data — including data an organiser entered about you — by emailing [email protected]. We will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to your local privacy regulator; in Australia, that is the OAIC.

11. Security & Breaches

We take reasonable steps to protect your data, but no system is perfectly secure. If a breach puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the relevant regulator promptly.

12. Children

GlideComp is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. Junior pilots aged 13–17 may be registered by a competition organiser; a parent or guardian can ask us to remove a junior’s data at [email protected].

13. Changes

We will tell you about material changes as described in the Terms (section 11).

Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using GlideComp, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

GlideComp is a free tool for managing and scoring hang gliding and paragliding competitions. Organisers can create competitions, set tasks and manage pilot registrations. Pilots and organisers can upload IGC track files, which are analysed and scored automatically, with GAP or open-distance scoring. Tasks and results are public, except in private test competitions.

3. User Accounts

You may create an account using Google sign-in or a code emailed to you. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You may delete your account at any time.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of any content you upload to GlideComp, including IGC track files and task definitions. By uploading content, you grant GlideComp a non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display that content as necessary to provide the service. You can delete your account and the tracks, tasks and notes in your own library at any time. Content that is part of a competition (registrations, tracks submitted for scoring, scores and the activity log) stays as that competition's published record, as described in Privacy Policy section 9.

5. Organisers

If you run a competition on GlideComp, you are responsible for the pilot details you enter, such as names, email addresses, pilot ID numbers and driver contacts. Only enter details you are entitled to use to run the competition, keep them accurate, and correct or remove them when a pilot asks. Results, tracks and the activity log are public, so don’t write anything in a penalty reason, weather note or other text field that you wouldn’t say publicly about the pilot.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to interfere with the service's operation, including by automated access that degrades it for others
  • Upload content you don’t have the right to share, or enter false information about other people

7. Reporting Content

If you think something on GlideComp is wrong, unlawful or defamatory, or infringes your rights, email [email protected] with a link to it and a description of the problem. We will review it, and may edit, hide or remove it. We may also remove content, or suspend an account, that breaks these terms.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

GlideComp is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that analysis results will be accurate. Flight analysis results should not be used as the sole basis for safety-critical decisions.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GlideComp and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

10. Open Source

GlideComp is open-source software. The source code is available on GitHub and is subject to its own licence terms.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will show a notice on GlideComp at least 14 days before it takes effect. Minor changes, such as corrections and clarifications, take effect when we publish them. If you don’t agree with a change, you can stop using GlideComp and delete your account. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when these terms last changed.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and the courts of Victoria have jurisdiction. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law, including the Australian Consumer Law, that cannot be excluded.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms: [email protected].
